The Gurkha Welfare Trust were in need of sponsorship for motorbikes, and approached Ask-re to consider sponsoring a motorbike for the Medical Team working in Nepal. To show our gratitude to the Gurkha people for their support and sacrifices given Ask-re wanted to contribute some help towards this worthwhile cause and instead bought a motorbike for one of the Mobile Doctors in Nepal.

The small number of motorbikes that the Medical Team in Nepal use have made a dramatic impact on their work. The team have 12 Mobile Doctors and 12 District Nurses who travel out to the homes of elderly, infirm or disabled individuals. Many of their patients live in the hills of Nepal, where road access is limited and which have only been accessible to the medical team by foot. The treks that the team have undertaken can take days, and they sleep in the villages that they visit. With the motorbikes, a visit that could have taken three to four days of walking can be done in a day.

The project has had a remarkable impact on the number of people that the Medical Team can visit each week and Ask-re are proud to have helped our friends over in Nepal.
