Work has finally begun on a £15 million boutique hotel in the heart of Liverpool City Centre, near a prime piece of corporate real estate.
The four-star Hotel Indigo, which is scheduled to open its doors next spring, is located just yards from the 20 Chapel Street development, which includes more than 110,000 square feet of office space for clients.
Worries about funding the project were allayed when financiers managed to offer a £10 package to proceed with construction, the Liverpool Daily Post is reporting.
Nick Taplin, managing director of Sanguine Hospitality which owns the hotel, said that Liverpool's tourism economy was continuing to grow in the face of one worst recessions in recent memory.
He added: "Our level of investment in Hotel Indigo reflects our level of faith in the city and the direction it is taking."
Mr Taplin estimated the city's tourism industry to be worth around £1.4 billion and still rising.
