New business space leasing development of central London office gets 'outstanding' BREEAM rating ahead of 2011 opening
By Ashley Brunskill
The planning and development of PricewaterhouseCooper's (PwC) new London headquarters has been given an award for sustainability.
PwC's new 7 More office, based on the south bank of the River Thames, is the first office building in Britain to be rated outstanding under the BREEAM standard for sustainability and environmental performance.
The new development incorporates modern technology such as using waste heat to warm and cool the building.
More claims its central location offers "fast and easy access to clients and for staff" being within a matter of minutes of many central London destinations such as Canary Wharf or Mayfair.
It is also within 15 minutes of every major railway terminal in the capital.
PwC partner Roger Reeves hopes this award could send a "clear message" that planning and development of sustainable offices and resources "can make good business sense".
The award winning office complex is currently being fitted out and is expected to open in early 2011. Around 5,000 of the firm's staff will move into the new complex.
