Businesses should be very cautious in the current economic climate, it has been suggested.
Some businesses may want to consider ways in which they can save money such as ensuring that their facilities management is as cost-efficient as possible.
David Kern, chief economist at the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC), said: "The recovery is clearly patchy and the implication is that businesses have to be very cautious. Although they have to prepare for some recovery, it is not going to be a very strong recovery."
He added that the UK economy is going to go in the right direction but it is going to be "very shallow and slow".
A BCC survey found that suggestions that the economy is on the brink of leaving recession may be true, but that no conclusive evidence of robust and significant growth during the fourth quarter of 2009 was noticed.
