New chairman and deputies for leading UK facilities management members' council
By Ashley Brunskill
Britain's leading facilities management body has made several senior appointments including a new chairman and two new deputies.
The British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) has appointed Ian Broadbent as chairman of its Members' Council.
Mr Broadbent has chaired the institute's north region and is an advocate of learning and career development, having himself obtained a BIFM qualification during his association with the company.
Reacting to his appointment, Mr Broadbent said he wanted to use his time to engage with its membership.
"While I have some formal duties now to perform [at BIFM events], I look forward to the opportunity to network in a less formal environment and share, learn and discuss the topics of the day with both members and non-members."
Ismena Clout and Stuart Harris were appointed as deputy chairs of the council. Ms Clout has chaired the London region since 2008, the largest membership region in the UK.
Mr Harris has been with the institute since 1998 and has been chairman of its east region for the last five years.
BIFM brands itself the "natural home" of facilities management and provides training, education and networking to its 12,000 strong UK membership.
