Improvements to facilities management could ensure employees avoid stress.
By Ashley Brunskill
Improved facilities management could help businesses to avoid having to make cutbacks, which may lead to dissatisfaction among employees.
According to recent research from uSwitch.com, just 57 per cent of British workers are provided with a free cup of tea or coffee at work.
Less than one third of British employees - 32 per cent - believe that their employer is generous to staff.
Charles Cotton, performance and reward adviser at the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), suggested that many smaller organisations like to focus on low-cost benefits as a way of recognising employee contribution.
He said: "The smaller and medium-sized employers don't have those sorts of resources, so they have to focus on the more relationship-building type of rewards, such as a Christmas party or a celebration to recognise achievements."
According to the CIPD Employee Outlook survey, many employees - 41 per cent - say they feel under pressure either everyday or once or twice a week.
