Property investment and management companies are just some in the professional and business services sector to be represented by a new group.

Yesterday (March 1st) saw the first meeting of the Professional and Business Services Group, a group which has been set up to provide a voice for the professional services sector.

Property management and investment firms will be able to lobby government directly through the group, which is chaired by senior partner of accountant Kingston Smith Sir Michael Snyder.

The sector accounts for eight per cent of UK output and is the largest employer in the country, representing 11.5 per cent of total employment.

Property investment and management organisations will help to have their future secured through the group, Sir Michael stated.

He added that the priority of the group is "to build on the success of the professions by developing a shared vision of professional services for the next ten to 15 years and how they can be even more successful".

Membership of the group is varied and includes senior partner at Clifford Chance Stuart Popham, UK Trade and Investment chief executive Sir Andrew Cahn and Simmons and Simmons managing partner Mark Dawkins.
