Reports of increasing net inflows into commercial property strengthened by survey of IFAs.

Commercial property investment is being more frequently recommended by independent financial advisers (IFAs, according to a survey by the Investment Property Forum (IPF).

The survey revealed that expectation for short and medium returns from commercial property investment has risen among IFAs and they were consequently recommending to invest in the area more frequently.

Indeed, 40 per cent of those surveyed indicated that over the past three months they were advising investment in the sector more often than previously.

The IPF indicated that it was the income-producing characteristics of commercial property that made it a legitimately recommended investment in the eyes of IFAs.

It said: "Overall this round of the survey supports reports of increasing net inflows into commercial property investment funds."

A 9.8 per cent fall in the cost of retail property during 2009 had made the option of commercial relocation more attractive to some businesses, according to Christie and Co's Business Outlook report.
